We recommend our kits are suitable for ages 3+ due to small loose parts, but we recognise that with appropriate supervision these could enrich a younger child’s sensory development.

Care instructions:

Here are care instructions to keep your homemade playdough fresh and fun to use:

1. Storage

• Use Airtight Containers: Store playdough in airtight containers (such as the tin provided), or ziplock bags, to keep it from drying out. If in bag, squeeze out excess air before sealing.

• Cool and Dark Location: Keep containers in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources, as this can cause the playdough to dry out or become sticky.

2. Preventing Dryness

• Check Consistency: If the playdough begins to dry out, add a few drops of water and knead until soft again.

3. Avoiding Stickiness

• Dust with Flour: If the playdough becomes sticky, knead in a small amount of flour until it reaches the desired texture.

• Keep Hands Dry: Ensure hands are dry when handling to prevent the dough from getting too moist.

4. Cleaning Up

• Wipe Down Surfaces: After playtime, wipe surfaces with a damp cloth to remove any residue.

• Use Playmats: Playing on a mat can make cleanup easier and reduce crumbs or small pieces left behind.

5. Shelf Life

• Replace Every 3-4 Months: Homemade playdough can last up to 3-4 months if properly stored, but it’s best to replace it as soon as you notice an unusual odor or significant changes in texture.

• Refrigeration (Optional): For longer-lasting playdough, consider storing it in the refrigerator, which can extend freshness slightly.
